RL with Ken

It hadn't been the easiest thing in the world to manage but somehow he'd come across a Japanese film that didn't have subtitles. He'd seen it once years ago when he was still in high school so he was aware that it was an action film. The genre wasn't exactly his favorite but he didn't mind it either. Besides, he knew that Ken would probably enjoy something with more action to it than anything else and since there wasn't much variety he went along with it.

Without telling Ken what kind of movie he'd found for them to watch, Aya set it up on their TV they'd bought for their room and brought the remote over to the bed so he could sit next to Ken. He'd already ensured they wouldn't be bothered for the rest of they which meant plenty of time for privacy.

"Ready?"

As far as Ken was concerned, the remote would be back on the bedside table before the movie was over. He loved watching tv from the warm blankets they seemed to both enjoy keeping on the bed, but damned if Aya didn't keep moving it back away from the bed. That just meant getting up to get it and that just didn't work for Ken. He might bot be lazy in the typical sense, but when he vegged out, he vegged out.

After a quick smirk, he glanced over at the door, then back to the redhead for a quick little tease.

"Better lock the door if it's porn or something equally bad."

"I already locked the door in case you decided that you no longer wanted to watch the movie."

Though his sense of humor was dry at best, Aya could tease back when he was in the mood for it. Especially in private with someone he trusted with everything in the world. Smiling a little, he turned on the film, still not mentioning that this would all be in their native tongue. That was a surprise for Ken to find out soon enough.

Setting the remote on the bedside table, he made himself comfortable.

He spared the redhead a waggle of eyebrows before he chuckled and scooted over the tiniest bit to make room for Aya. Of course, the moment he was close enough, he snaked an arm around Aya and tucked him close, secure that since they were alone and unobserved, the affection would be welcomed.

"So in case I wanted to take a nap, then?"

Naturally, Aya allowed it and even let himself lean towards Ken a bit. In privacy, he was far more willing to just welcome affections from his partner, even return them. Perhaps he was just being too Japanese in cases like that but Aya really wasn't paying much attention to that detail.

"Expecting the movie to be boring?" he asked as the title came up.

In Japanese.

Aya was just Aya. No one knew that better than Ken.

He'd burred in for a quick kiss to Aya's cheek, but when he looked back at the screen and noticed the familiar language, a wide grin spread across his face. It was enough to earn Aya an enthusiastic hug before he pulled him in even closer.

"Not anymore, I'm not. Where did you find this?"

The hug was a very good sign that Ken liked the surprise he'd found for him. Laughing softly, Aya shifted himself closer and rested a hand on Ken's leg. It was good to see him so happy. A smile always suited his face.

"When I was out getting groceries the other day I found a little shop that looked like it had some Japanese things in it. It was just a small section of it but I found the movie in there."

Without even knowing it, Aya had just made Ken's day, not that it had been a bad one. In fact, this was just the topping on what had been a pretty damn good day.

Settling back against the headboard, he turned his full attention to the movie.

"Did you find anything else good in there?"

"Some trinkets that are problem popular with girls in Japan these days and some snack foods like Pocky."

Honestly, it hadn't been an impressive display. That said, for a place where finding anything from their country was nearly impossible, that much quite the find. Aya had been quite pleased with his find and would probably see if there were other movies there that were interesting at some point.

That just earned a soft snort from Ken, but that was a sure sign he was watching the movie.

In the last few weeks, he'd been working on his English daily, even to the point of speaking it without really thinking, but now, it was all too easy to slip back into his native tongue.

Settling back against Ken, he let himself just relax while they enjoyed this time together. In all honesty, the movie wasn't that bad for something done in the 90s and for a genre that wasn't something he would go out of his way to see. Then again, he sat through things like soccer as well to have a chance to spend time with the brunette.

And in the light of recent events, this was rather comforting. They'd have to talk about it eventually but until then Aya was content in this moment.

For once, Ken was quiet as he watched the movie. For him, it was just about as perfect as he would be able to get. After all, he was curled up with his arms around Aya, finally able to be a bit more of himself, surrounded by his own language.

Ken being quiet like this was a sure sign that he was happy in the moment. Aya couldn't have asked for anything better and let the silence between them linger while the plot unfolded. Even for someone like himself who had been surrounded by the English language for years now, it was far easier to follow the story when it was in Japanese. If nothing else, he could recognize the cultural references which was a good start compared to many of the films they had here in England.

As much as Ken liked England, there were times that he missed his home. He had no regrets about leaving, because he left to do what he'd promised to do, but that didn't mean that he didn't miss the familiar surroundings even if he knew he'd never be able to go back.

Still engrossed in the movie, he absently tightened his arms a bit more around Aya.

Reaching up, he rested a hand on the arms around him without looking away from the screen then went to find one of Ken's hands to thread their fingers together. It was his little way of being affectionate back without interrupting the movie.

Aya never even realized just how much of a distraction he could be, though. Ken might be focused on the movie, but in the back of his mind, he was keenly aware each move Aya made. Smiling, he tightened his fingers with Aya's but did his best to keep watching.

He smiled a bit more at the feel of Ken's fingers tightening with his own. Though, he really had no idea that he could be such a distraction. All he wanted to do was have the contact that he had now.

As much as Ken enjoyed a good romp with Aya, he craved quiet time like this. Everyone else saw him as the boisterous brunette with the big mouth and bigger temper, but around Aya, he knew he could relax and let a bit of that go. It was something he appreciated, even if he never said a word.

Shifting with a bit of a chuckle, he let his thumb idly sweep along Aya's skin.

Ken's laughter was always nice to hear and Aya let himself take a moment to be distracted from the movie so he could listen to it no matter how brief it was. Shifting, he let himself sink down enough so he could rest his head back on the shoulder behind him. That smile on his face hadn't faded in the slightest.

Now that? That was a perfect moment. Loathe to disturb it, Ken let his head tip a bit to rest against the top of Aya's as he watched the rest of the movie in happy silence.

It didn't take much longer for the movie to come to a close, Aya still tucked against Ken even while the music for the credits played. It hadn't been a bad movie at all and one he'd keep around in case they ever wanted to see it again. Turning his head slightly, he pressed a little kiss to the side of Ken's face.

The gesture pulled a pleased rumble from Ken as he turned to try and catch a quick kiss. While he was content as he was, he never turned down the chance to grab a kiss from the redhead.

Aya made sure to stay still when he saw Ken move so he could make sure he got that kiss. It wasn't as if he didn't want it too.

Bringing a hand up to push some of Ken's hair back from his face, he smiled for him. "Did you like the movie?"

Chuckling, he leaned his head back against the headboard, his fingers tightening again.

"Hell yeah I did. I've missed Japanese."

"I know you have." It was why he'd made sure to surprise him. Glancing off to the side, he noted the remote but decided he didn't feel like grabbing for it.

"I'll have to see if I can find us more movies to watch in the future."

Ken was far too content to go for it, either, once he noticed what Aya was looking towards. Ah well, sooner or later, the tv would turn itself off.

"Thanks."
